Vegan Brisbane tattoo artist Blogs // Coverups, tattooing, merchandise & moving

Heya! For those returning, welcome back :) For those here for the first time, thanks for visiting my blog! If you are new to reading a blog on my site, this is my journal-styled, SEO prioritised, thoughts into word for anyone to read, of which tend to be a brief exploration of what the title suggests. A wrap up of recent events, a venting of feelings & current emotions, as well as gratitudes and hopes for the future

If you read my previous blog, I touched upon how this month I am moving households as well as moving my shirt printing equipment into a commercial space. I also mentioned of how I was releasing a drop of hoodies to help with all of the above. I ran this recent run of hoodies to have a definitive & available option for zip up and pullover fits. As well, I wanted to start running half-toned images on sleeves & this hoodie drop felt perfect for the debut of this new stylistic touch.

This particular recent hoodie (if you don't know what I'm talking about, definitely check them out) is a run of my Cerberus design as a backprint, with a front print of my logo filled with the highest of quality blood smears and sleeves with black knockout, half tones of the coolest & most iconic bits of development art (just my opinion) in Resident Evil history.

They are unbelievably comfortable and built to age like a fine wine. Every sale helps me immensely with all the costs I've currently got going on with all this moving

I am unbelievebly stoked and excited to be locating all my merchandise & shirt printing equipment into a dedicated commercial space within this upcoming month. It's been the goal for the passed couple years since taking on this new skill & craft so after many pitfalls, to finally be within arms reach of this early goal, feels great and I can't wait to share my journey along the way

This blog in particular is here to tickle the SEO Gods on my availability and abilities as cover up tattoo artist here in Brisbane. I've very recently posted a coverup on my Instagram & Tik Tok that I'd like to talk about in detail regarding it's process, client, concept and insight

Firstly; this particular cover up was done on one of my toughest and most appreciated clients, Emma. Emma, if you are reading this, thank you for your continued support, strength, commitment & kindness over the years, this coverup was an intense form of necassary cartharsis that I'm honoured to be a part of.

We did this project over 3-4 sessions of bigger half day bookings, starting with it's mapping, stencilling & outline. We didn't begin any tattooing until we had confirmation from our friend Andre at The Laser Company that the skin was ready to be tattooed after Emma did what many won't even consider, which is to get at least two sessions of tattoo laser removal.

I'm no expert on tattoo laser removal, However, I've had tattoo laser removal done on myself throughout the years and definitely will be recieveing more as I go through my own tattoo journey. For the coverups I've had done on myself, I can understand the difficutly in acheiving the final goal of growing through the pain of past mistakes. There's no guidebook, so you are really at the mercy of professionals while being so exposed & vulnerable along the way. I understand why some choose to ignore the advice to get laser removal for a coverup (& it's not always fully required), but I applaud those like Emma who show that extra bit of strength and trust by allowing us (the professionals involved) to help guide them throughout the process.

Emma and I spent our first session togethor mapping the composition, keeping the design to both of our liking, whilst still aiming for a succesful cover up that complements the shape of the body in which we are working with.

After our first session, we did use numbing cream for each session following. As someone who also has their bum tattooed, it is truly unpleasant of an area to get tattooed, so for the sake of us finishing each session with optimal progress, I'm really glad we took that avenue to finish this project.

Coverups don't always require laser removal, they also don't require numbing cream, but more often than not they do always require multiple sessions. That of which requires commitment, trust and determination. Coverups almost always have to be bigger than the original piece being covered and they need a tattooer in charge whom is experienced in their craft

Thank you again, Emma for your role as a client throughout my career, your support and presence is very appreciated

Thank you (the reader of this blog) for making it this far, there isn't much left to say in this chapter of life in this particualr blogpost. Hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back in my next blogpost celebrating getting through this ballache (but also exciting) move.

I'm currently working most days and working on my submission for an upcoming exhibition between work & what's required for this move. I'm definitely at full capacity trying to pull all this off, but I got this. If you feel inclined to offer help, please just buy some merch or book a tattoo, either of those are the biggest help currently

Tattooing is still my #1, I've got days available so if you want to get tattooed in August, hit me up asap! If you wanna get tattooed earlier than that, also hit me up asap & let's make it happen

Thanks for reading! I appreciate you

Cheers :)
